California Governor Announces Plans To Run For Terminator |
Gray Davis To Audition For Upcoming 'T4'
|
Politics - Frustrated by his struggles in politics, California Governor Gray Davis will abandon public service and seek a career in acting, the embattled governor announced today.
Davis faces an October 7 recall election in which he could be removed from office. His position seems increasingly imperiled as dozens of candidates, seemingly including every politician, celebrity, freak and weirdo in the state, have declared their intention to replace him.
Now the governor has given up his efforts to remain viable in politics and set his sights on the entertainment business. Davis has already given a screen test for the upcoming Terminator 4: The Machines Go Down.
"Gray's performance at the screen test was dull and lifeless," director Jonathan Mostow said. "He showed absolutely no talent, no style, and a dubious command of the English language. I think he'll be the best Terminator yet."
Davis denied that his decision to try out for the Terminator role is in any way a sarcastic response to actor Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision to compete in the California recall election. "I'm running for Terminator because I think I'm the most qualified man for the job," he said. "I've governed the most powerful state in the Union, I've improved California's schools, and I've helped resolve the state's power crisis. Also, I was in a school play in 1951. Obviously, I'm ready for the silver screen."
He also denied that his interest in T4 was motivated by rumors that the film will feature hot lesbian cyborgs.
"I'm auditioning for the role of Terminator because I feel Hollywood needs me," Davis said. "It's not any kind of egotistical wish-fulfillment or delusion of grandeur. I'm doing it for the people."
Davis feels his chances of winning the role are good despite his lack of acting experience. "My advantage is, I'm an outsider," he explained. "Hollywood has gotten too entrenched, too stagnant. It needs some new blood to shake things up. I'm going to change the way movies are made."
